We look at the entire day as a sea of activities designed to capture the child's abilities to learn and create, at their own pace through the carefully-designed activity planning, which consist of methodologies that places learning in priority of each activity. Each child is provided the opportunity to develop aptitude and skills at their own pace. Basic readiness for Kindergarten is accomplished, totally.
In addition to our Teaching Curriculum the following services are provided:
- Two (2) main meals and One (1) snack.
- Change of Clothing and complementary Diapers (until child is 2 years old).
- Full-time Registered Nurse coverage.
- Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Do they participate in-group play or do they [just] observe?
- Twelve (12) -Month programs.
The New York City Department of Health & Hygiene -Bureau of Day Care is our licensing agent. The House of Little People (THLOLP) is in substantial compliance with the rules and regulations as they relate to the guidelines set by DOHMA.
Our staff consists of an Educational Director who holds a Master's Degree and is a Certified Teacher in Early Childhood Education. The Center's Director coordinates the Educational Curriculum and overall planning of the children's activities.
Both locations have two (2) pre-school groups, each having a Teacher Licensed in Early Childhood Education and an assistant with a CDA in Early Childhood Education (E.C. ed).
The following teacher to child ratios are maintained daily:
Infant Ratio: 4:1
Toddler Ratio: 5:1
Pre-School Ratio: 6-1
Our Infant/ Toddler Teachers have CDA or Associates' Degrees in Early Childhood Education and have at least 5 years of classroom experience.
